One of the things that make Holland a unique country are the bikes. They were EVERYWHERE. Most people were on bikes, not walking or driving a car, and they seemed to rule the traffic. Everyone was riding super fast and I was more scared of getting hit by a bike than any other vehicle! The bikes came in every style and color which made me want to customize my own bike to look cooler :D

In Amsterdam, there were many Vespas in pretty colors and we also saw this weird “Beerbike” that was ridden by many people at the same time as they were drinking beer! Definitely a never-before-seen invention to me… kind of clever I guess :D

How come we don't have these in Finland? Well, maybe the Finns would only be interested in the drinking part...

please, take me back

It was an awesome experience and I’m really happy that I could be a part of it! (:  It was great to visit Holland, see all the new and different places like Drachten, Groningen and Amsterdam.  Getting know to new people and try new things, s also big part of this experience! I also liked that we had a little break from school, we had really deserved it! :D sooo, I want to thank you all and I really hope we’ll meet again :——–)

I AMsterdam

Our day in Amsterdam was one of the best! In less than ten minutes walking down the streets, I knew it was a place I wanted to come back to someday. The city was so beautiful with all its canals and buildings. In Helsinki we have way too many boring concrete boxes :(

During the canal cruise, every house seemed to have nice colors and decorative doors and roofs. It was fun to see how some people really live in their boats, with little gardens and everything! The dungeon was a fun place to visit and we had a good laugh when Markus got the extra attention from the staff :D

The free-time flew by extremely fast even though we only shopped on one street! Me, Milla and Soili also had some yummy frozen yoghurt in Frozzo(over-priced but oh so good!).

D.A.N.C.E

Friday was our last day in Drachten and we had a farewell party. Alrina’s and Baukje’s mothers had arranged the party, they had made fantastic job. Tables were full of delicious food and I ate sooo much! When we had started dancing, spirits ran high. We danced on stools and on tables, we had a blast! I just love dancing! The stereo set overheated, but it didn’t matter. We listened to the music from iPhones. I could have danced the all night long! In addition, it was wonderful just chill outside and crack jokes with all these awesome people. At the end of the party we Finns got very cool t-shirts. I think the party was one of the week’s highlights. :) I already miss that night.

and mooooore sports!

We did many kind of sports and  I have already told about the craziest one. The rest of sports were familiar also to Finnish students.  The first day we played darts and I WAS THE WINNEEEEEEEEEEER! of our crew and there were four of us ……… but still I’m proud of myself ;) On Wednesday after school we went to play midget golf in same crews than on Monday, so it was Anna-Maija, Marissa, Marit and I, and I lost the game with big numbers :D we also cycled and it was funny to tried it, ’cause I hadn’t cycled few years and you really could tell it when you saw me on the bike :—-D

Groningen

The first thing I remember about Groningen is the synagogue, in my opinion it was nice to hear information about Jewish people and their style of living. We also had free time in Groningen and I think we all had great time(: Almost everyone bought manyyy pairs of shoes, all kind of clothes etc., the most of us came back to Drachten carrying manymanymany bags with themselves! I’m not a shopping person and also I founded something to buy! :D

Some things were very different in Holland and here is a couple of them. On Wednesday we had pancakes for dinner. I like pancakes more than a lot and they were delicious but it was quite weird to eat them as a hot dish. Here in Finland pancakes are usually a breakfast or a snack. And guess what they put on a pancake which had bacon in it? Sugar! Pretty imaginative combination, don’t you think! :)

Some of boys seemed to use really much hair gel and I have to say that it was quite a sight. :D Everyone didn’t use too much and that was charming. That’s also a thing that Finnish guys should learn by: it shows that you care for your appearance. But too much is always too much…
